Appearance and identification
The upper body is brown to blue-green and the lower body white, with yellowish-white bases to the pelvic and anal fins in males. Lake Wanam fish show a dark longitudinal stripe with a pale orange band below and vertical markings on the forebelly. A bright orange dorsal line is not normal for every adult. A red nape extending to the first dorsal fin is a male characteristic.
