Appearance and identification
Rosy tetras usually lack the conspicuous shoulder markings of serpae and bleeding-heart tetras. They closely resemble M. bentosi; both can show faint shoulder spots, so presence or absence of a spot is not decisive.
Same-species behaviour
Keep at least six, preferably ten or more. Males may display and compete; do not expect constant tight schooling.
Space requirements
Allow a 60 × 38 cm footprint for a small group; reassess space for a larger group or additional companions.
Diet and feeding
Offer small flakes or granules alongside suitably sized live or frozen foods.
Compatibility limits
Choose quiet companions of appropriate size and assess them individually.
Aquarium environment
Provide planted cover, shaded areas and swimming room. Bare, brightly lit surroundings may leave the fish timid and less colourful.
