Aulonocara jacobfreibergi

Broad pale outer margins on the dorsal, anal and caudal fins, with a relatively deeply forked tail.

Larger-bodied than many other peacock cichlids in the genus.

Adult length
Up to 17 cm (standard length, without the tail fin)
Water temperature
25–29 °C
Lifespan
5–8 years
pH
7.5–9
Hardness
10–25 dGH
Natural habitat
Northern populations occupy rocky and boulder habitats; southern populations also use intermediate habitats, where males occupy small caves.

May attack similarly colored fish and members of its own genus; mixing the latter also risks hybridization. Most aggressive rock-dwelling cichlids are unsuitable.
