Keep color forms from different localities separate. Randomly paired fish may seriously injure each other. Prevent jumping and minimize disturbance during mouthbrooding.
Social behaviour and territory
Allow pairs to form naturally for breeding. 80×30 cm suits one pair; groups need more room.
Diet and feeding
Try suitably sized dry food and alternate live or frozen foods such as Daphnia and brine shrimp. Feed small amounts and avoid overfeeding.
