Appearance and identification

Celestial pearl danios show pearl spots and red-black fin bands; this species has bars and a tail-base spot. Keep breeding groups separate because of possible hybridisation.

Same-species behaviour

Keep 20 or more to spread male aggression.

Space requirements

Use a 60 × 30 cm base.

Diet and feeding

Provide tiny sinking or suspended foods and small live or frozen foods, not surface-only feeding.

Compatibility limits

Check predation, feeding competition, space and water needs before choosing tankmates.

Aquarium environment

Keep both planted cover and feeding gaps. A social group is not continuously tight schooling.
