Appearance and identification

Fish sold as Black Tiger may be D. tigris. D. dayingensis is very similar.

Social behaviour and territory

Prefer a species-focused setup and observe individuals.

Compatibility limits

Avoid larger, boisterous feeding competitors.

Space requirements

Use 45 × 30 cm for a pair or one male with females. Divide sight lines with plants and wood.

Aquarium environment

Plant cover supports security. It does not replace targeted feeding or watching for chased and underweight fish.

Diet and feeding

Provide tiny live foods or frozen foods it accepts. Check that food is eaten instead of assuming flakes suffice.
