Appearance and identification

Two rows of flank plates carry dark spots. The illustrated male has a thick orange pectoral leading ray. M. picta has a conspicuous dark tail band. Historical thoracata records may refer to that species instead.

Floor and movement space

Provide clean soft foraging substrate and cover. Air breathing does not excuse poor maintenance.

Aquarium environment

Foraging can disturb planting; leave dedicated substrate access. Shrimp safety is unknown.

Diet and feeding

Offer sinking complete foods and suitable frozen foods.
