Appearance and identification
Compare its yellow body and fine fin lines with the empire gudgeon, which has a red belly, contrasting borders and separate pelvic fins. Similar lake Mugilogobius cannot be told apart by colour alone.
Floor and movement space
Leave hovering room above the bottom near plants, branches and vertical surfaces.
Aquarium environment
Found near aquatic and flooded vegetation. Leave swimming space.
Diet and feeding
Confirm the supplier's actual foods and that each fish eats before purchase.
Same-species behaviour
Territorial males intensify colour and fin displays. Spread out potential nest surfaces and watch pursuit; hovering together is not schooling.
Compatibility limits
Watch food competition, size differences and male territoriality.
