Neolamprologus brevis
Neolamprologus brevis
Vertical flank bars and a slightly bulging face. A pair may share one shell; the bars distinguish it from L. ocellatus, which lacks the same pattern.

- Water temperature
- 23–27 °C
- pH
- 7.5–9

Despite its small size, it may nip intruders. Avoid competition for bottom space with breeding groups of aggressive rock-dwelling fish in confined quarters.
Social behaviour and territory
Strongly defends a small territory around its shell. Groups need plenty of shells and more females than males.
Diet and feeding
Mainly suitably sized live and frozen foods; captive-bred fish often accept dried foods.
