Appearance and identification
An annual killifish of seasonal waters; eggs develop through wet and dry periods. A 2010 revision rediagnosed this species and described N. krysanovi and N. pienaari.
Same-species behaviour
Keep at least two females per male; harassment can still occur.
Space requirements
45×30×30cm suits one male and two females with cover, gentle filtration and a close lid; pursuit can still require separation.
Diet and feeding
Offer varied small animal foods. Dry food is accepted only to a limited extent.
Compatibility limits
Start with a species-only layout for observation and breeding.
Aquarium environment
Plants or wood can break sightlines while keeping feeding visible. Spawning media need not cover a display tank.
