Parosphromenus gunawani
Parosphromenus gunawani
Adults are stockier than bintan. Males have parallel colored bands on the unpaired fins, usually with a greater proportion of reddish brown.
- Adult length
- Up to 2.8 cm (standard length, without the tail fin)
- Natural habitat
- Inhabits peat swamps with shallow pools, partly covered by aquatic plants and shaded by trees and shrubs.
Needs extremely soft, acidic water.
Social behaviour and territory
Does not form tight schools. Pairs may be kept for breeding; groups need caves and visual barriers. Watch nest defence and subordinate fish.
Diet and feeding
Offer tiny, suitably sized live foods. Dry food is unreliably accepted; confirm the fish actually eat.
