Appearance and identification

A broad blunt head leads to a dark back, pale belly and bold cream flank stripe. The orange-red tail has only a shallow notch. The Asian redtail, Hemibagrus wyckioides, belongs to another genus; a shared trade label does not make their records interchangeable.

Floor and movement space

Plan lifelong large facilities, not an ordinary planted aquarium. Allow turning room, secure decor and protect equipment; a validated minimum footprint and capacity remain unknown.

Aquarium environment

A strong adult can move substrate and loose decor. Planting must leave room for movement and maintenance; shrimp safety is unverified.

Diet and feeding

Use complete large-fish foods and varied suitable animal foods without overfeeding; do not rely on feeder fish or scraps.
