Appearance and identification

A dark olive base carries golden spots. Bright orange juvenile fins change with maturity; adult fins become more spotted with yellowish tips.

Aquarium environment

Sparse planting can accompany rock and wood cover; adult space, oxygen and territories remain priorities.

Diet and feeding

Supply complete sinking foods with suitable animal foods and check intake. Its sucker mouth does not mean an algae-only diet.

Same-species behaviour

Provide clean, well-aerated moving water and shelter; territoriality increases with maturity.
