Appearance and identification

A freshwater Congo species. Separate spots contrast with the long lateral stripes of the Fahaka. “Leopard” is an ambiguous trade label.

Space requirements

Provide mature filtration, clean oxygenated water, gentle to moderate flow, roots, plants and retreats. Allow a 120 × 45 cm base and 50 cm depth for six fish.

Diet and feeding

Maintain access to appropriately sized soft-shelled snails with varied suitable invertebrate live or frozen foods. Observe the beak and feeding ability; do not switch to soft meat alone once tank snails disappear.
