Floor and movement space

Allow a 150 × 45 cm base.

Aquarium environment

May feed on soft-leaved plants. Ornamental snails and shrimp are not safe.

Diet and feeding

Provide varied, suitably sized sinking foods and small animal foods with suitable plant foods. Snail predation does not replace feeding.

Same-species behaviour

Keep at least five or six, preferably ten or more, on a 150 × 45 cm base.

Compatibility limits

A large, robust and potentially combative loach; groups need sufficient bottom area and several refuges. Take particular care with small peaceful bottom fishes and long-finned companions.
