Labigastromyzon fangi

Appearance and identification

Its small spots or narrow bars contrast with the broad bars of L. changtingensis. Lower-lip anatomy also separates it from Pseudogastromyzon myersi; yellow dorsal colour alone is not enough.

Aquarium environment

Retain smooth grazing surfaces, refuges and clean oxygen-rich flow. Plants may supplement the layout but cannot replace food on mature surfaces.

Diet and feeding

Feed algae stones, granules and small live foods, and check intake; it is not a maintenance-free cleaning fish.

Same-species behaviour

Watch access to food and competition.

Compatibility limits

Avoid larger, more aggressive tankmates. Companions must also suit moving-water conditions, and this loach must be seen obtaining algae and supplementary food.
