Appearance and identification

Finer and paler markings distinguish it from the bold bands of the Lake Matano goby.

Floor and movement space

Provide plant margins, fine substrate and accessible retreats.

Aquarium environment

Plant margins give shelter and calm resting areas.

Diet and feeding

Offer appropriate small frozen or live foods and confirm they are eaten.

Same-species behaviour

Imported fish may be shy at first. Watch feeding and nest defence; it spawns in caves with paternal egg care.

Compatibility limits

Do not borrow the seawater rearing protocol of Mugilogobius cavifrons.
